Olympic swimmer Leisel Jones is competing in the games for the fourth time. No other Australian has achieved this distinction. As of this writing, Jones is also one medal away from tying with Ian Thorpe as the most decorated Australian swimmer. So, what did the Australia's Herald Tribune ask readers over the weekend?
Whether Jones looked too fat to compete.

Happy birthday J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter! Today, Rowling celebrates her 47th birthday, while her beloved fictional character, Harry Potter, turns 32. Where does the time go?
J.K. Rowling
J.K. Rowling was born in Yate, Gloucestershire, England on July 31, 1965. She was a bright and curious child, and began penning fantasy stories at a young age. In fact, Rowling loosely based the character of Hermione on herself, saying “she's a caricature of me when I was eleven, which I'm not particularly proud of.”
Rowling’s adult years were a bit rocky at first - her mother died, she and her husband divorced, and she found herself an unemployed mother on government assistance. However, Rowling refused to give up on her writing and finished Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 1995.

South Korean archer Im Dong-hyun's acheivements would be impressive under any circumstances -- he brought home Olympic gold in the last two games for team archery, and has won a slew of other awards including four world titles and four Asian Games gold medals -- but, possibly most impressive of all is that he's done it all while legally blind.

The Olympic Opening Ceremonies are tomorrow night. Everyone wants to show their national spirit and support. But, ceremonies are inherently dull things that involve a lot of symbolic gestures and suitably solemn speeches. Liven up the festivities a bit by making it all into a drinking game!
