Think you can predict which brand of beer is the world’s best seller? TheDrinksBusiness.com put together a list of the world’s most popular brews by analyzing case sales in 2011. Here’s what they discovered. How many beers on the list have you sampled?
10. Asahi Super Dry
The most popular beer in Japan is available in over 50 countries, and beer lovers guzzled 12.3 million barrels of the lager last year. In 2010, Asahi sold 12 million barrels and placed tenth on the list of most popular beers.
9. Brahma
Brahma, a popular beer in Brazil, fell from number eight to number nine with 17.4 million barrels in sales. Jennifer Lopez helped this brew became a big name by appearing in a national television ad.
8. Miller Lite
Most Americans are familiar with Miller Lite, a sponsor of Nascar events, and the brand sold 18 million barrels in 2011. Last year, Miller Lite placed seventh on the list of most popular beers with 18.2 million barrels in sales.

Halloween may be over month away, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get your spooky drink on. Here are 10 beers inspired by ghosts, ghouls, and things that go bump in the night.
Newcastle Werewolf - “Werewolf is a dual-character brew that pours ‘blood’ red, starting smooth and ending with a bite.”
Apparition Ale, Moon River Brewing Company – “This beer is driven by malt flavors of caramel and toast with a fruity English ale yeast character.” Bonus: Savannah’s Moon River Brewing Company is reportedly haunted.

If pumpkin beers aren’t your thing, perhaps a monster brew will do the trick. Newcastle Brown Ale recently announced the first nationwide release of its limited edition beer, Newcastle Werewolf.
“Unlike the mythical wolf-like creature said to roam the bleak moorland surrounding Newcastle, England, this Werewolf is real,” Charles van Es, brand director, Newcastle Brown Ale, said in a statement. “Everyone loves a good urban legend, so we’re hoping to take advantage of the werewolf story to sell more beer this fall.”
