It seems some people will do anything they can to get their hands on an iPad 2, including selling a kidney. A teenager in China coveted Apple’s popular tablet so much that he sold one of his organs afford the device.
“I wanted to buy an iPad 2, but I didn't have the money,” the 17-year-old boy told a Chinese news station. “When I surfed the internet I found an advert posted online by agent saying they were able to pay RMB20,000 [$3,085] to buy a kidney.”
Without his parents’ knowledge, the teen negotiated a fee and traveled to the city of Chenzhou for the risky surgery. The procedure was uneventful and after three days at the hospital the boy returned to his home $3,400 richer. Not surprisingly, the teen soon went on a major shopping spree and aroused the suspicion of his parents.
