It’s hard to believe that we’re the only life in such a limitless universe, but many people fight off the thought of alien life. NASA’s recent announcement of a habitable earth-like planet might make it a little more difficult for non-believers to argue the impossibility of extraterrestrials life pretty soon though.

NASA cancelled an underwater space simulation in the Florida Keys because of concerns involving Hurricane Rina. Six astronauts and scientists participating in the NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations, also known as NEEMO, were evacuated earlier today.

The Northern Lights, also known as the aurora borealis, surprised people as far south as Georgia with its phenomenal hues of green, red, pink and orange. A solar wind made the sight visible for people as far south as Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi and Indiana. This marks one of the farthest stretches in years!

If you’ve always longed to be an astronaut, now might be the time to make your dreams come true. On Tuesday, NASA announced that it is looking for a few good men and women to complete astronaut training, The Los Angeles Times reports.
"For scientists, engineers, and other professionals who have always dreamed of experiencing spaceflight, this is an exciting time to join the astronaut corps," Janet Kavandi, director of flight crew operations at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, said in a statement.

In an effort to preserve the Space Shuttle Program's history and technology, NASA is offering shuttle heat shield tiles and dehydrated astronaut food to eligible schools and universities, the agency reported on Monday.
"Not only are we preserving a critical part of our nation's history, but we are reusing government property in an unexpected way by giving these NASA artifacts a second life in our nation's schools," said Steven J. Kempf, commissioner of the General Service Administration's Federal Acquisition Service.

In an attempt to hook kids on science and math, NASA and Tor/Forge Books, an imprint of Tom Doherty Associates, LLC, have teamed up to develop “NASA Inspired Works of Fiction,” a series of sci-fi novels based on past, present, and future NASA projects.
