All of the women who have sworn by birth control pills for years may have done themselves some good in addition to preventing unplanned pregnancies.

A recent study showed that women who were on the pill for 10 years nearly cut their risk of ovarian cancer in half!

Today is International Women’s Day, a day when people around the world will fight for women’s rights and celebrate the contributions women have made to society. IWD, which is an official holiday in many countries, is also a day when men appreciate women for their beauty and femininity, presenting gifts of flowers, chocolate, and jewelry. Here are a few International Women’s Day celebrations taking place around the world.

In honor of the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, Google created a new logo featuring women in education and medicine. Google also partnered with Women for Women International to coordinate “Join Women on the Bridge” meetups. Google Map users may also notice that a peg woman has replaced the standard peg man feature.
