Finland claims to be home of the mobile phone so naturally the country would be the location of the Mobile Phone Throwing World Championships. 

Described as "the only sport where you can pay back all the frustrations and disappointments caused by these modern equipments," the championship resulted in a new world record set by one Finnish teenager.

The Cork Body Painting Group set a world record this weekend: most painted bodies in a single place. But, it almost didn’t happen after the group caused a run on men’s thongs in the Irish city. A post on the event’s Facebook page said: “Men’s thongs have sold out in Cork. Some people are saying they are wearing jockstraps. You could also wear a woman’s thong (just make sure it’ll hold you in) or you could wear Y-fronts.”

In the end, participants found a male thong stash at the adult shop Utopia. The record was firmly secured with 316 people stripping down and getting painted up.

24 hours and 18 minutes – that’s how long it took an Austin guitarist to set a new world record for the longest guitar solo. 

David DiDonato, a member of an Austin metal band known as Modok, began his record-breaking quest on 7 p.m. Sunday night (May 13). DiDonato played for a total of 24 hours and 55 minutes, with five-minute breaks thrown in every hour. He recorded much of his performance at Austin’s Red 7 on UStream.tv. While he's most famous for scarfing down hot dogs, Japanese eating champion Takeru Kobayashi has also competed with meatballs, pasta, turkey, hamburgers, cow brains, rice balls, chicken wings, Twinkies, and more! Yesterday, the 33-year-old, 128lbs. Kobayashi set a new world record for gobbling grilled cheese sandwiches -- 13 in one minute!

When I heard that over 50 teams were set to compete in a pickleball tournament in my town, I was intrigued. Primarily because I love pickles, but also because I love learning about unusual sports, like ferret legging.

I was slightly disappointed to learn it has nothing to do with the beloved pickled cucumber. It's a game which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Rather than racquets, players use paddles and they swiftly swing them at wiffle balls. But why the peculiar name?

Sorry Australia. The world record for the largest bikini parade now belongs to America.

On Tuesday, 450 bikini-clad women (and girls) marched a mile in Panama City, FL, shattering the previous world record by nearly 100 participants. Participants were as young as three and as old as 60, but all were wearing the required two-piece swimwear. 

“We were able to not just break the record but smash it,” said event sponsor Dan Rowe, president and CEO of the Panama City Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Everybody had a great time.”
