I am not sure which is stranger, the fact there is a penis museum or that it has a human specimen. Yes there is a museum with a collection of boy parts.
The Phallological Museum is located in a small fishing village of Husavik, Iceland and boasts a collection of 209 penile and penis parts. Until recently most of their specimens had been collected from mammals found in Iceland.
Thanks to a most unusually bequeathed gift by Pall Arason, they now have the first homo sapien sample. Pall Arason, who passed away last year at age 95, was a friend of museum founder and curator, Sigurdur Hjartarson.
Upon Arason's death doctors removed his penis, pickled it and gave it to the museum. Hjartarson says that the posthumous gift of Arason’s pickled penis helps to round out the expanding collection of bear, whale, seal and other private parts.
The museum was opened in 1997 and is open for visitors from May until September
I always thought that there were some bizarre collections of things out there, but this has to be the weirdest. As strange as it is, I still feel need to add it to my bucket list of things I just have to see. It’s one of those things I think no one will believe until it’s visited.
