Summer is approaching, and in certain areas of Japan that means scorching temps and oppressive humidity. This summer will be particularly brutal as the Fukushima disaster has left the nation with no working nuclear reactors and no way to produce the amount of power Japanese people are used to consuming. That’s why a company invented Super Cool Bras (above) – a garment designed to keep women cool and air conditioners off.
The cups of the Super Cool Bras, which resemble goldfish bowls, are stuffed with a specially-engineered gel that remains “soft and supple even when frozen.” The maker of the bras, a Japanese manufacturer known as Triumph, say the garment will give ladies a “cool sensation” while keeping their boobs in place. The bras also feature a mini fan.
The bras were inspired by Cool Biz, a government-led campaign that encourages Japanese men and women to wear less clothing so they don’t need to rely on power-sucking air condition units.
What do you think of the Cool Bras? An ingenious invention or a foolish one?
