It’s no secret that the economic situation is hurting a lot of small businesses, but one in Florida is making some unique changes in an attempt to save their motel!
The Fawlty Towers Motel in Cocoa Beach is a 32-room property owned by Paul Hodge and his wife. Over the years there has been more and more competition and less and less business to work with. After much debate with his wife and consulting an attorney, Hodge decided to make his motel a magnet for nudists.
On May 1, they began targeting a new demographic. There are a lot of people who are concerned about this decision though. Neighbors and owners of nearby businesses are all a bit nervous about what they might be seeing. Fortunately for them, the guests are not allowed outside of the motel without their clothes on. That mistake would result in some pretty hefty fines. Hodge and his wife have no plans of joining in on the clothing-optional fun, but he was hoping to get his bartenders to agree to serving guests topless.
What do you think about this desperate attempt to save their business? Do you think it will draw in more people or steer the only guests they have away? Will guests spend the money to stay there if they can’t go outside naked? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
