Joyland, a new murder mystery by horror master Stephen King, is slated to hit bookstores in June 2013. The upcoming novel is the tale of Devin Jones, a young carny forced to unravel the mystery of a vicious murder. Titan Book’s Hard Case Crime, a line of pulp-styled crime novels, will publish Joyland.

"I love crime, I love mysteries, and I love ghosts,” King said in a release. “That combo made Hard Case Crime the perfect venue for this book, which is one of my favorites. I also loved the paperbacks I grew up with as a kid, and for that reason, we’re going to hold off on e-publishing this one for the time being. Joyland will be coming out in paperback, and folks who want to read it will have to buy the actual book."

Robert McGinnis, the legendary artist who worked on posters for the original James Bond films, and Glen Orbik, the painter of more than a dozen of Hard Case Crime’s most popular covers, will collaborate for Joyland’s painted cover art.

King’s next novel, a sequel to the 1977 hit The Shining, is tentatively scheduled for a 2013 publication. The book will be titled Dr. Sleep.
