October is just around the corner, and that means an influx of pumpkin lattes, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin beer, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin record attempts. Why not add a little liquor to the mix with these mouth-watering pumpkin cocktail recipes

Pumpkin Fever

2 parts Bols Pumpkin Smash
1 part Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
1/4 part cream
1/4 part milk
Cinnamon for garnish
Sugar for rimming

Shake with ice and strain into a sugar-rimmed, chilled martini glass.
Sprinkle with fresh ground cinnamon.

Pumpkin Martini

1/2 oz Sylk Cream Liqueur
2 oz vanilla vodka
1/2 oz pumpkin liqueur or pumpkin spice syrup
1 tsp whipped cream
Cinnamon stick for garnish

Pour the Sylk Liqueur and vodka into a shaker filled with ice.
Shake well.
Add the pumpkin liqueur or syrup.
Shake again.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Top with a teaspoon of whipped cream.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Pumpkin and Apple Cider Cocktail


1 1/2 ounce pumpkin purée
1 1/2 ounce vanilla vodka
2 ounces apple cider
1 1/2 ounces spicy ginger ale, such as Bruce Cost

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the pumpkin purée, vodka, and apple cider. Shake for 10-15 seconds.

Strain into a Collins glass filled with ice and top with ginger ale.

Great Pumpkin

2 ounces pumpkin ale
1 ounce RIttenhouse Bonded rye
1 ounce Laird's Bonded Apple Brandy
.5 ounce Grade B Maple Syrup
1 whole egg
Ice
Whole nutmeg for garnish

Add pumpkin ale, rye, apple brandy, and maple syrup to a mixing glass. Swirl to decarbonate beer. Add egg and shake without ice until foamy. Add ice, shake well, then strain into chilled serving glass. Garnish with grated nutmeg.

Smashing Pumpkin

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water
3 slices tangerines, with peel
1 ounce pumpkin puree
1 1/2 ounces Bourbon
1/2 ounce Grand Marnier

In saucepan combine brown sugar and water, bring to a boil to dissolve sugar. Remove from heat and let cool. In cocktail glass muddle tangerine slices. In a shaker filled with ice combine 1/2 oz simple syrup, pumpkin puree, bourbon and Grand Marnier. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with nutmeg if desired.
