Most people imagine paintings having plenty of color, but artist Karen Eland prefers her pieces in beautiful shades of brown. She became famous for coloring canvases with coffee, but now Eland dabbles in beer painting.

"Beer has been a really successful venture," she says. "It's a little more difficult than normal paint because it will come off if I spill a water drop on it ... but mostly it's like watercolor."

Since she lives in Bend, Oregon, the town with the highest per capita of beer breweries, Eland always thought about painting with beer. However, it wasn't until she was commissioned by an ad agency for a Guinness project that her idea really took off. She's since made artworks for restaurants, breweries, and all around beer lovers.

This past weekend, Eland was invited to the San Diego Beer Fair where she demonstrated beer painting live. Her work was then auctioned off for charity.

Check out some of her masterpieces!
