Fall is, in my opinion, the very best of the junk food seasons. Not only do you have a cornucopia of Halloween candy to choose from, but, every year brings more pumpkin and apple flavored sugar delivery systems. Some of the products I’m most excited about this year:
Candy Corn Oreos – I’m not part of the 44% of Americans that called candy corn their least favorite Halloween candy. In small doses, I like the stuff a lot. A candy corn Oreo sounds sweet but good. What I’m still waiting for, though, are those rainbow colored Oreo stacks they teased us with over the summer.
The Starbucks Pumpkin Latte - This drink returned last week, and there was much rejoicing. For many people, this is the definitive sign that it’s fall.
Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Everything - Not to be beat by Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts is offering also a pumpkin coffee drink. And pumpkin muffins. And pumpkin donuts. Plus a pumpkin cream cheese flavor. It’s pretty safe to say, you can get your fill of pumpkin flavored seasonals at DD this year.
Cadbury Screme Eggs - Can’t wait until Easter for your Cadbury Crème Egg fix? You’re in luck. Cadbury is now making Halloween “Screme Eggs,” with green goop replacing the usual yellow-orange candy yolk. Internet searching revealed that, last year, they offered a mini version of the Screme Eggs in Australia, but, I have not found any evidence that it’s available in the states.
Halloween Peeps - Marshmallow Peeps are another Easter candy that have gotten the Halloween treatment. Varieties include chocolate-marshmallow-flavored cats, white marshmallow ghosts, and chocolate-dipped marshmallow pumpkins.
Hershey Pumpkin Spice Kisses – these seasonal kisses feature a white chocolate shell filled with pumpkin spice flavored cream.
Pepperidge Farm Caramel Apple Pie Soft Dessert Cookies - One reviewer said that they have the texture of an oatmeal cookie with apple and caramel flavor, which sounds pretty awesome. Not ones to miss out on the pumpkin craze, Pepperidge Farm is also offering a limited edition pumpkin cheesecake flavor this fall.
I’m on the look-out for more sugary seasonals. What have you found in your neck of the woods?
