The New York Giants are heading to the Super Bowl, but winning the NFC Championship game was no easy task.

The G-men and the San Francisco 49ers were fiercely fighting each other for the lead throughout the entire game, ultimately sending it into overtime. Due to regulation changes this year, in overtime both teams are given a chance to run the ball, unless the team who wins the coin toss scores a touchdown during their first possession.

After each team had their chance to score and failed, the Giants regained possession of the ball and scored the field goal that would send them to Super Bowl XLVI. They will face the New England Patriots just four years after a nail-biting game that left the G-men with the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Will this year be a repeat?

As a Giants fan, I’m hoping the game goes exactly as it did four years ago, but the Patriots are definitely the favored team right now. Tom Brady said it himself, he played a bad game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. If he plays like that on Feb. 5, there’s no doubt the Giants’ defensive line will destroy their offensive attempts.

With that said, if the Giants’ offensive line has a day like Sunday, it could level the playing field. Their strength is by far their defense. Quarterback Eli Manning took more hits in their game against the 49ers than some running backs in a regular-season game. As much as I hate to say it, this game could go either way. One thing is for sure; it will definitely be a great game!

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 5th. The big game is being held in Indianapolis this year.

Let’s hope Eli finds some comfort, strength and perseverance in his brother’s home turf! I’m obviously pulling for the G-men and anticipating that Brady will get rocked as hard as he did four years ago! Who are you rooting for in Super Bowl XLVI? What do you think the scoreboard will look like at the end of the game? Sound off in the comments section below!
