Do you like Big Macs? I mean, really like them? How many have you eaten? Well, whatever that number is, I’m sure it’s not as many as Don Gorske.
Gorske, a man from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin will eat his 25,000th McDonalds Big Mac today.
That’s right, 25,000 Big Macs throughout his lifetime. There is a special ceremony planned at the McDonalds in Fond du Lac in honor of Gorske’s record, and the Guinness Book of World Records will be there to document this historic day.
People may remember Gorske from his appearance Morgan Spurlock’s documentary Supersize Me.
Since taking his first bite of a Big Mac on May 17, 1972, Gorske has eaten at least two Big Macs a day. He ate nine burgers on that first fateful day, and has only missed nine days since that time.
Gorske believes that he may have an obsessive-compulsive disorder, which led to keeping such a good record of his burger-eating; however he doesn’t consider it a problem.
Today marks the 39th anniversary of Gorske’s discovery of the Big Mac burger, and the 57-year-old says that this 25,000th burger is a milestone because people did not think he would actually live this long. He says, however, that he recently saw a doctor and has low cholesterol and is in good overall health.
