This time of the year is known for bringing people together and what better example of this than the story of a girl being reunited with her family after being lost for nearly seven years to the day!
A little girl who was thought to have been swept away during the massive tsunami that ravaged Asian coastlines in December of 2004 has not only been found alive, but has been reunited with her family! Wati was 8 years old when the rushing waters tore her out of her mother’s arms seven years ago. Her mom was trying desperately to get Wati and her other two children to safety when she lost her.
An Indonesian news agency is now reporting that Ibrahim, Wati’s grandfather, met a teen matching the age and physical description of Wati. She had been trying to find her way home, but the only thing she could remember of her family was her grandfather’s name.
The teen was confirmed to be Wati by the family based on distinguishing marks and scars on her body. It’s still unknown what happened to her during the time she was missing, but one thing is for sure; her family is definitely grateful to have her back after all these years!
