Speculation has been swirling about whether or not four-time league MVP Peyton Manning will be the next one to get cut from the Indianapolis Colts, and the star quarterback is finally speaking out. Will he stay or will he go?

Manning missed out on the most recent football season due to the rehabilitation of his third neck surgery in 19 months. The team, coaching staff, doctors and Manning himself were hoping that he’d be healed up and hitting the field by December at the latest, but this recovery hasn’t exactly been speedy. Now that the Colts have secured the first draft pick and will likely pick up Stanford’s Andrew Luck or Baylor’s Robert Griffin III, everyone is wondering what’s going to happen to Manning.

"I can't give you a prediction because [owner Jim Irsay] and I will sit down at some point and he'll get a feel for where I am and I’ll get a sense of what direction he wants to go," Manning said. "Right now, I have no idea."

Irsay recently cleaned house, firing Bill and Chris Polian, as well as Coach Jim Caldwell from the staff. This team doesn’t have a whole lot of stability or security right now, and you better believe that Manning is feeling that pinch the same way everyone else is.

"I'm not in a very good place for healing, let's say that," Manning said. "It's not a real good environment down there right now, to say the least. Everybody's walking around on eggshells. I don't recognize our building right now. There's such complete and total change."

He added: "I guess it's the reality of the football world, just not something I've had to deal with very often. But I'm in there every day, so I have to sit there and see it. Everybody's being evaluated and I'm no different. It's not the best environment."

Manning hopes to stay with the Colts for his entire career, but it’s pretty obvious the decision isn’t necessarily his to make. All he knows is where he stands right now, in this moment.

"All I know is I'm still under contract to the Colts. I'm still the quarterback of the Colts. That's why I'm in the building every day trying to get healthy."
