The Super Bowl is only days away, so it’s important to make everyone aware of an infection that tends to affect the millions of people watching the big game. While there are a ton of people who watch because they are football fans, there are also a large number who watch because the commercials are amazing! The problem: There’s no time for potty breaks when even the commercials are demanding people’s attention!
It sounds silly, but people tend to put off taking care of a pretty basic bodily function: urinating. With all the food to munch on, commercials to watch and plays to bicker over; there isn’t a whole lot of time left over to run to the restroom! Some people have even gone to painful extremes to ensure that they won’t miss a beat!
“During most sporting events people will get up and use the restroom during the commercials and not have any problem,” said Methodist Hospital’s Dr. Jeff Kalina. “However, most of the time the commercials are the best part of the Super Bowl, so we have seen people who have to come in and have a catheter put in to relieve themselves.”
Ouch! Now that is dedication to your favorite sport or team! For those of you who go without the catheter and must actually walk away from the TV to use the bathroom, make sure you do. Bladder infections are no fun and putting off using the bathroom will only increase your chances. With all the booze drinking that is to be anticipated with the largest football event of the year, be sure to stay hydrated and in turn, relieve your body and use the potty when you’ve got to go!
