Think you can predict which brand of beer is the world’s best seller? TheDrinksBusiness.com put together a list of the world’s most popular brews by analyzing case sales in 2011. Here’s what they discovered. How many beers on the list have you sampled?

10. Asahi Super Dry

The most popular beer in Japan is available in over 50 countries, and beer lovers guzzled 12.3 million barrels of the lager last year. In 2010, Asahi sold 12 million barrels and placed tenth on the list of most popular beers.

9. Brahma

Brahma, a popular beer in Brazil, fell from number eight to number nine with 17.4 million barrels in sales. Jennifer Lopez helped this brew became a big name by appearing in a national television ad.

8. Miller Lite

Most Americans are familiar with Miller Lite, a sponsor of Nascar events, and the brand sold 18 million barrels in 2011. Last year, Miller Lite placed seventh on the list of most popular beers with 18.2 million barrels in sales.

7. Coors Light

Another American favorite, Coors Light stole Miller Lite’s thunder with 18.2 million barrels in sales, up nearly four million barrels from last year.

6. Heineken

Dutch brand Heineken defended its sixth place spot with 26 million barrels in sales thanks to increased interest in the African and Russian markets. James Bond will even forgo his shaken-not-stirred martini for a Heineken in the upcoming Skyfall movie.

5. Skol

Danish beer Skol fell from fourth place to fifth with 29.5 million barrels in sales, down from 30.2 barrels in 2010. Skol’s sales are bolstered by growth in its Africa and South American markets.

4. Corona Extra

Corona’s sales increased from 27.9 million barrels in 2010 to 30.4 million barrels in 2011, helping it rise from fifth place to fourth. The brand is the biggest outdoor advertiser in this year’s world beer category, The Drinks Business reports.

3. Budweiser

Budweiser held strong at number three with 38.7 million barrels in sales. The brand’s strong numbers come from growth in the Canada, Brazil, Russia, and China markets, among others.

2. Bud Light

Second place goes to Bud Light with sales of 45.4 million barrels, down from 2010’s 47.4 million barrels. Bud Light Lime and the newly-launched Bud Light Lime-a-Rita contribute to brand’s strong showing.

1. Snow

And the best selling beer in the world is…Snow, a Chinese brand which sold 50.8 million barrels last year. Snow snatched the number one spot from Bud Light in 2011, thanks to the growing Chinese beer market. Will they be able to repeat their success?

Which best-selling beer is your favorite? Though I’m more of a craft beer person, I can always swill a Corona on a hot summer’s day.
