Scientists have been searching for cures for cancer for years, and while there are plenty of treatments available to raise survival rates, no real remedy has been found. A British woman got incredibly lucky and managed to rid herself of cancer in a much easier, and essentially painless way. She literally coughed up the disease!

Claire Osborn, a 37-year-old woman, was driving down the road when she felt a tickle in the back of her throat. This tickle provoked a lengthy coughing fit, as most do, only this one ended with her feeling something fly out of her mouth. Apparently, it was a tiny, liver-colored piece of tissue and Claire, not knowing anything else to do with it, just threw it away.

Unfortunately for Claire, the same feeling came back the next day and led to another bout of hacking and coughing. This time, the tissue she coughing up was about an inch long. Scared that she was experiencing some strange medical condition involving coughing up your own flesh, she brought this chunk in for analysis.

The doctor did a biopsy and found that it was an aggressive form of cancer that originated in the back of her mouth. She only had a 50/50 shot at survival and was told that she would need chemo treatments, but when the doctor did a scan for remaining cancer cells, there wasn’t a single one. Claire literally hacked up her own cancer!
