According to the young fashion designer from the United Kingdom, she chose Kyiv because she considered it to be a potential market for other stunning outfits from her latest collection. "The creation of this dress is not some commercial project. This is simply a stepping stone to my new collection of jeans, which will be also decorated with diamonds," she said.
The world's most expensive dress, as dubbed so by the World Record Academy, is encrusted with 50 black diamonds of two carats each. The fringe is decorated with white diamonds framed in gold. Debbie spent six months sewing the dress which required over 50,000 stitches. She considers it to be "an anthem for a beautiful woman who loves life."
"So far no one has this dress and it will be on sale only after it appears in stores," she told Ukrainian journalists. "However, I will inform you immediately once somebody buys this dress."
Visitors of the fashion show were surprised by how extravagant yet wearable the dress appeared, both on camera and in person. "It really emphasises the star quality of the person who wears it," one visitor said.
